EXPLANATORY NOTES

This Bill would amend the Fair Registration Practices Act to

· remove the prescribed regulatory bodies and prescribed persons from the Act; and

· add regulation-making authority to prescribe regulatory bodies in the regulations.

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

1. Paragraph 2(i) of the Fair Registration Practices Act is repealed and the following substituted:

(i) "regulatory body" means a body prescribed in the regulations.

2. Section 22 of the Act is amended by renumbering paragraph (a) as (a.1) and adding immediately before that paragraph the following:

(a) prescribing bodies for the purposes of paragraph 2(i);

3. Schedules A and B of the Act are repealed.

Commencement

4. This Act comes into force on December 17, 2026.
