2. -- THE HONOURABLE THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION -- To ask leave to introduce a Bill entitled, "An Act To Establish The Council On Higher Education". (Bill No. 21)

3. -- THE HONOURABLE THE MINISTER OF HUMAN RESOURCES, LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT -- To ask leave to introduce a Bill entitled, "An Act To Amend The Workplace Health, Safety And Compensation Act No. 2". (Bill No. 24)

4. -- THE HONOURABLE THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE AND ATTORNEY GENERAL -- To ask leave to introduce a Bill entitled, "An Act To Amend The Human Rights Code". (Bill No. 25)

5. -- MS. ANNA THISTLE (Grand Falls-Buchans) -- To Move:

"WHEREAS this province as an energy producer has benefitted because of increased offshore oil revenue;

AND WHEREAS the people of this province are forced to pay some of the highest fuel prices in North America and are suffering because of these high fuel prices;

AND WHEREAS many people on fixed incomes are unable to afford to heat their homes;

AND WHEREAS Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is applying for another increase in electricity rates;

AND WHEREAS the trucking industry in this province is suffering because of high fuel prices;

AND WHEREAS this province's tourism industry is being negatively impacted by high fuel prices;

AND WHEREAS concerns are being raised about the inadequacies of public transportation in this province;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this House of Assembly calls on the Provincial Government to develop and implement a plan to deal with the impact of high fuel prices and high energy taxes in this province."

QUESTIONS

67. -- MR. GERRY REID (Twillingate-Fogo) - To ask the Honourable the Premier to lay on the Table of the House the following information:

(a) a list of duties of the new provincial representative in Ottawa;

(b) a list of the activities of the Ottawa office since November, 2003;

(c) numbers of staff employed at the government's office in Ottawa; and

(d) total expenditures, with a detailed breakdown, of this office.

68. -- MS. YVONNE JONES (Cartwright-L'Anse au Clair) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Health and Community Services to lay on the Table of the House the following information:

(a) the results of any reviews of the quality of ambulance service in the province;

(b) comparisons between the numbers of ambulances per capita in this province with those of other provinces across Canada by overall population; and

(c) comparisons between the numbers of ambulances per capita in this province with those of other provinces across Canada by regional distribution.

69. -- MR. OLIVER LANGDON (Fortune Bay-Cape La Hune) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Municipal Affairs to lay on the Table of the House the following information:

(a) a list of communities in the province with no fire protection services;

(b) a review of equipment and training in place at departments across the province; and

(c) information related to whether adequate equipment and training levels are in place to deal with toxic waste or chemical fires.
