QUESTIONS

70. -- MR. KELVIN PARSONS (Burgeo & LaPoile) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Justice to lay on the Table of the House the following information:

(a) the number of lockdowns at Her Majesty's Penitentiary in the last three years;

(b) a list of any dangerous weapons confiscated from inmates;

(c) a list of illegal substances confiscated from inmates; and

(d) any notable incidents or altercations occurring either among inmates or between inmates and guards.

71. -- MR. KELVIN PARSONS (Burgeo & LaPoile) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Justice to lay on the Table of the House the following information:

(a) any structural or operational difficulties which have been identified with Her Majesty's Penitentiary; and

(b) any studies, reports, or recommendations regarding the improvement of the penitentiary.

72. -- MS. YVONNE JONES (Cartwright-L'Anse au Clair) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Health and Community Services to lay on the Table of the House the following information:

(a) the results of any analyses of the prevalence of so-called 'urban drugs' such as cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and ecstasy in the province; and

(b) any initiative the province is taking to deal with such problems.

73. -- MS. YVONNE JONES (Cartwright-L'Anse au Clair) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Health and Community Services to lay on the Table of the House the following information:

(a) any analyses of how the declining birthrate is expected to affect the province's economic outlook; and

(b) any policy ideas the Government is considering to counteract the declining birthrate.

74. -- MR. ROLAND BUTLER (Port de Grave) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Education to lay on the Table of the House the following information:

(a) any information relating to the Teacher Allocation Model Review , in terms of consultants or other personnel hired, progress, anticipated time of completion and any recommendations which may have arisen from the process thus far.

75. -- MR. ROLAND BUTLER (Port de Grave) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Education to lay on the Table of the House the following information:

(a) any information relating to the Pathway Model independent assessment, in terms of consultants or other personnel hired, progress, anticipated time of completion, and any recommendations which may have arisen from the process thus far.

76. -- MR. ROLAND BUTLER (Port de Grave) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Education to lay on the Table of the House the following information:

(a) the number of people hired through the Internship Program (formerly the Graduate Recruitment Program) since its inception;

(b) the number of people hired yearly under this program;

(c) the number of people currently employed through this program;

(d) the rate of retention of students whose internships have ended; and

(e) the number of current vacancies which can be filled through this program.

77. -- MS. ANNA THISTLE (Grand Falls-Buchans) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board to lay on the Table of the House the following information:

(a) any analyses completed by or for the Government regarding the impact of higher oil prices on the economic and social well-being of individuals in this province; and

(b) any plans the province is considering in light of the increase of oil and the analyses conducted.

78. -- MS. ANNA THISTLE (Grand Falls-Buchans) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board to lay on the Table of the House the following information:

(a) any analyses completed by or for Government regarding the possibility of providing a full rebate of the provincial portion of the Harmonized Sales Taxes (HST) to the people of the province, regardless of income or fuel type, as both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick have done.

79. -- MS. ANNA THISTLE (Grand Falls-Buchans) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board to lay on the Table of the House the following information:

(a) the number of families which are eligible for the home heating fuel rebate;

(b) the number of families which have applied for the home heating fuel rebate;

(c) the number of families which are expected to be assisted by the program;

(d) the cost to the Government for this program;

(e) the amount of money Government has earmarked for this program; and

(f) the number of homes in the province using oil heat, electric heat, or other sources.

80. -- MR. KELVIN PARSONS (Burgeo & LaPoile) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Natural Resources to lay on the Table of the House the following information:

(a) details of the expressions of interest given by the applicants of the Lower Churchill proposal; and

b) any information regarding the process which led to the elimination of these proposals.
