13. − THE HONOURABLE THE GOVERNMENT HOUSE LEADER − To Move:

 

“WHEREAS, in accordance with section 45 of the House of Assembly Act and section 39 of the House of Assembly Accountability, Integrity and Administration Act, the Commissioner for Legislative Standards has recommended to this Honourable House:

 

1)      that MHA Brazil be reprimanded by the House of Assembly for failing to file an accurate disclosure statement;

 

2)      that MHA Brazil be reprimanded by the House of Assembly for violating the Members' Code    of Conduct.

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT this House of Assembly concurs with the findings and recommendations of the Commissioner for Legislative Standards and asks that the Member for Conception Bay East – Bell Island stand in his place in this House and apologize to this Assembly for his failure and violation as cited by the report of the Commissioner for Legislative Standards”.

 

14. − MR. DWIGHT BALL (Humber Valley) − To Move:

 

        “WHEREAS one of the key points of the Muskrat Falls development was the ability to use 40 percent of the power for industrial development in Newfoundland and Labrador;

 

        AND WHEREAS the Premier and other government members repeatedly said that 40 percent of Muskrat Falls power would be used for industrial development in Newfoundland and Labrador;

 

        AND WHEREAS the new arrangements between Nalcor and Emera of Nova Scotia mean that the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has now committed excess power to Nova Scotia;

 

        AND WHEREAS this power will be sold to residents of Nova Scotia at rates well below what Newfoundlanders and Labradorians will be forced to pay;

 

        AND WHEREAS residents of Nova Scotia have benefited from a full Utility and Review Board hearing on Muskrat Falls and will be the primary beneficiaries of our resource;

 

        THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this House calls upon the Government to send the Muskrat Falls project back to our Public Utilities Board for a full public review for the protection of our ratepayers.”

 

QUESTIONS

 

                        5. − MR. CHRISTOPHER MITCHELMORE (The Straits – White Bay North) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Innovation, Business & Rural Development to lay on the Table of the House a listing of all communities without full access to broadband internet service.

 

                        6.  − MR. CHRISTOPHER MITCHELMORE (The Straits – White Bay North) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Innovation, Business & Rural Development to lay on the Table of the House a listing of all Government offices, Crown Corporations, public buildings and depots, by geographic location, without full access to broadband internet service, as agreed upon in Estimates 2012.

 

                        7.  − MR. CHRISTOPHER MITCHELMORE (The Straits – White Bay North) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Innovation, Business & Rural Development to lay on the Table of the House a provincial mapping model undertaken by the Department that lists current broadband availability and speed as this would encourage collaboration among providers to bring broadband access to these remaining communities without it.

 

8.  − MR. CHRISTOPHER MITCHELMORE (The Straits – White Bay North) - To ask the Honourable the Minister of Innovation, Business & Rural Development to lay on the Table of the House documentation that shows mapping of broadband on the Great Northern Peninsula, highlighting the communities of Bide Arm, St. Julien's, Pine's Cove, Eddies Cove East, St. Carol's, St. Anthony Bight, Great Brehat, Goose Cove and North Boat Harbour are without broadband coverage and would provide best information available to service providers to establish high-speed Internet in these communities.
