Granite Canal Hydroelectric Project Exemption Order

Electrical Power Control Act, 1994
and the
Public Utilities Act

Under the authority of section 5.2 of the Electrical Power Control Act, 1994 and section 4.1 of the Public Utilities Act , the Lieutenant Governor in Council makes the following Order.

Short title

        1. This Order may be cited as the Granite Canal Hydroelectric Project Exemption Order.

Definition

        2. In this Order, "Granite Canal Hydroelectric Project" means the planning for, the environmental, economic and engineering study of, and the design and construction of 

             (a)  generation and related facilities at Granite Canal ;

             (b)  dams, dykes and other works required for the generation of power at Granite Canal ;

             (c)  transmission facilities necessary to deliver the power to be generated at Granite Canal to a suitable point of interconnection with the existing transmission facilities, and

             (d)  any other facilities and equipment necessary to the Granite Canal Hydroelectric Project.

Exemption

        3. Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is exempt from the Electrical Power Control Act, 1994 and the Public Utilities Act for all aspects of its activities pertaining to the Granite Canal Hydroelectric Project as defined in section 2.
