EXPLANATORY NOTES

This Bill would be subject to proclamation and would

·         repeal the Health Care Association Act;

·         vest the real and personal property of the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Boards Association in the Crown; and

·         transfer responsibility for the obligations and liabilities of the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Boards Association to the Crown.

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

Short title

        1. This Act may be cited as the Health Care Association Act Repeal Act.

        2. The Health Care Association Act is repealed.

Assets and liabilities to Crown

        3. (1) In this section, "association" means the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Boards Association formerly known as the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Care Association.

             (2)  Title to all real and personal property of the association is vested in the Crown.

             (3)  The Crown is responsible for all the obligations and liabilities of the association.

Commencement

        4. This Act comes into force on a day to be proclaimed by the Lieutenant-Governor in Council.
